Grade 310 Stainless Steel

310 stainless steel is a strong and durable material recognized for its excellent resistance to heat and corrosion. Its high chromium (24-26%) and nickel (19-22%) content forms a protective layer that shields the steel from damage at elevated temperatures and prevents rusting. With a low carbon content (≤ 0.08%), 310 stainless steel strikes an ideal balance between strength and flexibility. Additionally, elements like manganese, silicon, and molybdenum enhance its toughness and wear resistance, while small amounts of phosphorus, sulfur, and copper improve machinability and reduce brittleness.[1] As demonstrated in the image, 310 stainless steel is commonly used in applications like boilers, where its ability to withstand high heat and corrosive environments is crucial. Variations of 310 steel, such as 310H and 310L, offer specialized properties for specific applications. 310H is a low-carbon version designed for extreme high-temperature conditions, while 310S is suited for environments with moderate temperatures and moisture-induced corrosion. 310L, with a maximum carbon content of 0.03%, is particularly effective in corrosive environments like urea production, where resistance to chemical degradation is essential.
