What is the difference between super duplex and duplex stainless steel

Super Duplex Stainless Steels and Duplex Stainless Steels primarily differ in their chromium content, which influences their corrosion resistance. Duplex Stainless Steels typically contain around 22% chromium, while Super Duplex Stainless Steels are alloyed with approximately 25% chromium. The higher chromium content in Super Duplex Stainless Steels significantly improves their resistance to pitting corrosion, offering enhanced protection in aggressive environments. [1] As a result, Super Duplex Stainless Steels provide superior corrosion resistance compared to Duplex Stainless Steels, making them ideal for applications where high performance in challenging conditions is required.
