Stainless steel was discovered by accident in 1913 by Harry Brearley, an English metallurgist. He was trying to develop a rust-resistant alloy for gun barrels and noticed that one of his samples didn’t rust after several months. This led to the creation of stainless steel, which is now used in everything from cutlery to skyscrapers!
